Puppies under a Maple Branch
(Japan and Korea )
This hanging scroll depicts five puppies playing beneath an autumn maple branch. When he painted this autumn scene, Nagasawa Rosetsu, the son of a warrior, had become adept at the free brushwork and playful compositions for which he is renowned.
