Description The man in this miniature has not been identified. He wears a fair wig, a plum-colored velvet coat with gilt buttons and a white knotted kerchief. Back is roughly finished, white enamel, circular paper sticker with "8716 / SW. / 52." in ink, "13" in graphite, "21" in red pencil.
Provenance Likely Henry Walters, Baltimore [date and mode of acquisition unknown]; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
