Scarab with a Warrior
5th century BCE (Late Archaic-Classical)
carnelian
This scarab bears an image of a helmeted warrior, possibly the hero Perseus, carved in intaglio. The warrior is holding a spear in his left hand and a shield on his right arm. He is running to the right but looking back at a small snake by his feet. A hatched border runs around the edge.
