6/26/2012 | Treatment | The tho or covered jar's shape imitates that of a reliquary. The jar is decorated with five colors of overglaze and gilding. Three firings were probably necessary during manufacture of the jar. The first and highest temperature firing would mature the porcelain; the second and lower temperature the overglaze; and the last and lowest temperature firing to adhere the gold. |
