Pair of bottle shaped vases with chrysanthemum blossoms in gold, pale green, cream and yellow overglaze enamels over a 'nashiji' silver and high-glass black ground, floral roundel superimposed in gold enamels over black, delicate vines in relief against the silver band traversing the shoulder. The effect is of vases with transitional and artistic references to lacquer, metal work, porcelain and cloisonne.
