Taking as his models Chinese bird-and-flower paintings, Baiitsu turned out countless variations, never lacking fresh inspiration. He was seventy when he painted this hanging scroll.

[Signature] Baiitsuryo; [Seal] Baiitsu; [Seal] Ryo-in; [Inscription] The name of the artist's painting studio where he painted this in the summer of 1853; [Signature] On box: Chikka Sanjin (the painter Hirao Chikka) in 1937
