Description This vase has a light blue ground and is decorated with a relief in white known as domestic employment after designs by Lady Elizabeth Templetown. After many experiments Wedgwood perfected jasperware in 1775. The use of a shallow relief in white on a colored ground was inspired by ancient Roman cameo glass.
Provenance George R. Harding Collection, until 1911; Henry Walters, Baltimore, before 1931, by purchase; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
