Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara
Avalokiteshvara, bodhisattva of compassion, smiles reassuringly as he holds a lotus and makes the gesture of giving. He is also known as “Padmapani,” the one with the lotus ("padma") in his hand ("pani").
