Tsuba with Cranes and Bamboo
(Japanese Military Armor)
Both cranes and bamboo are signs of longevity and often used as a felicitous motif. On this tsuba, three cranes stand near young bamboo leaves. A fourth crane is shown in flight at the upper left. A stand of bamboo is on the right. Bamboo also appears on the reverse.
