Oinochoe with a Female Head

As female heads were a common motif on red-figure objects of this period, it is not surprising that those depicted on the "kantharoi" (drinking vessels) in this case and on this jug are similar. The women wear a richly patterned "saccos," a head scarf which covers most of the hair.
