Description Provenance Inscription Credit
Description With barely a hint of landscape, three women in their simple but colorful garments stand out brilliantly as the focal point of this print. The oval basket with a hole in its top waits to be filled by these elegant clam diggers. The shell in the foreground shows us the type of clams they are gathering.
Provenance C. Robert Snell, Oriental Arts & Antiques, Timonium, Maryland; purchased by Justine Lewis Keidel, Owings Mills, Maryland, after 1971; given to Walters Art Museum, 1991.
