Fuzoku ga
(Japan and Korea )
With barely a hint of landscape, three women in their simple but colorful garments stand out brilliantly as the focal point of this print. The oval basket with a hole in its top waits to be filled by these elegant clam diggers. The shell in the foreground shows us the type of clams they are gathering.
