Tetradrachm of Tigranes II
Obverse: Bust of Tigranes II, draped, wearing Armenian royal tiara with 2 eagles with floret/Macedonian star between, right; bead and reel border. Reverse: Tyche of Antioch seated on rock right, with palm in right hand; Orontes river god below; below on rocks, monogram (control mark); foliate border with knot at top.
Antioch was peacefully annexed by Tigranes in 83 BCE, setting the earliest possible date for this issue featuring the city’s protective Tyche.
