Leprince, a member of a noted family of artists, exhibited his landscapes at the Paris Salons from 1822 to 1844. He belonged to a generation of neoclassical artists whose works were characterized by their luminous atmosphere and their picturesque settings. Leprince was said to have painted directly from nature.
