Amphora with Chariot and Driver
(Ancient Greece )
This red-figure doubleen depicts a charioteer driving biga to the right. Bearded, he wears a belted "xystis," and leans forward to urge on the two horses; the lower part of a goad he holds is preserved. The horses gallop right, heads held up high, front legs well off the ground.
On the back a bearded, mantled man wears a fillet. He stands to the left, right arm extended.
