Jasper Étui with Cocks and Rabbits in Gold

This étui is for a bodkin (a sharp tool for making holes in cloth) or a needle. The inscription in enamel reads “L'Amitié nous unis" ("friendship unites us”). Although the words are written in French, the language of the upper classes in Europe at this time, the case is German.
