Working Together
(Japan and Korea )
Ashinaga ("Long Legs") holds Tenaga ("Long Arms") on his shoulders in order to accomplish the task of tying a bag onto a high pine branch. These mythical men were said to inhabit the seashore in north China, where their very existence was dependant on this acrobatic cooperation required to catch fish. They were a popular subject for Japanese netsuke.
