Tsuba with Tigers in Bamboo
(Japanese Military Armor)
Tigers are considered the strongest animal and are often depicted with bamboo. On the front of this tsuba, one tiger has his front paws on the bamboo stalk as though he is about to climb it. A second tiger is at the lower left. On the reverse, a tiger is shown drinking water from a stream.
