Virgin and Child

Description Exhibitions Provenance Credit
Description Simple brass statuettes of the Virgin were cast in great numbers to ornament chandeliers and other household fixtures. Their design was based on contemporary painted wooden statuettes. Placed over a doorway, such a figure would seem to bless the family's comings and goings.
