Description One of a set of triplets who grows up in the circle of the great calligrapher Sugawara Michizane, Sakuramaru enters the service of a prince. Eventually he performs ritual suicide because he feels responsible for the unjust exiling of Sugawara. Sakuramaru is wearing a cherry-blossom patterned kimono (sakura means "cherry tree").
