Saint Sebastian

Description Conservation Provenance Credit
Description The saint is shown in an almost ballet-like dancing posture, with one foot raised off the ground. The figure is bound to a tree of brownish coral with fetters of gold and is pierced with five golden arrows. The subject was a popular one in south Germany. The left arm, left leg, and toes of the left foot have been broken and repaired. The base is modern.
Conservation

The figure of St. Sebastian was reattached to the base using an unobtrusive mount designed to reduce stress on the fragile ivory and coral components of this object.
