Standing Buddha
(Southeast Asia )
This image was made by a sculptor following a lingering Cambodian tradition. It may originally been placed in a temple flanking a principal image. The raised right hand, in Indian images of the Buddha, signifies "protection from fear"; in Thailand, it has forbidding or commanding connotations.
