Description Provenance Inscription Credit
Description Nine different forms of fish and sea creatures are illustrated on this tsuba. All are regularly consumed as part of the Japanese diet. On the front, a spiny lobster is at the lower right. Proceeding around in a clockwise direction are a flounder, a puffer fish, a second flounder, and a sea bream. On the reverse are a snapper, an octopus, an eel, and a flounder.
