Description This kozuka shows the legendary Chinese scholar Shoko sitting in his hut, reading a book. He holds the book out the window so that he can read it by moonlight. The kozuka is signed in a gilt inset on the reverse.
Provenance Henry Walters, Baltimore [date and mode of acquisition unknown]; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
