Description Lightly clad and sparsely ornamented, the ascetic bodhisattva is seated in the graceful "lalitasana" on a lotus with a prominent calyx and broad petals placed atop a plain rectangular base with molding at the bottom. His right foot rests laterally on a ledge with beaded edge projecting from the base. The slim figure has a long, oval face with large, staring eyes shaded by peaked brows. Long braids of hair frame the face and a fan-shaped crest on top adds a decorative touch. His extended right hand holds a jewel, and the left grasps a stem carrying a flower with a cluster of leaves probably representing the blue lotus.
