Landscape With Cascades
(18th and 19th Centuries )
Largely self-taught, Blakelock exhibited in the National Academy of Design. However, in 1891 he suffered his first nervous breakdown and from 1899 was committed to a psychiatric hospital. However, around this time his works began to find favor with collectors and in 1916, with his paintings fetching large sums, Blakelock was made an Academician.
