Cat Head and Torso Fragment
mid 7th-late 4th century BCE (Late Period)
bronze
This cat's head, shoulders, and chest was perhaps intended for placement on a wooden body. There are small holes in the ears for the insertion of earrings, the eyes were inlaid, and there is a flat oval depression on the head for the attachment of a scarab. A decorative pattern of leaves and flowers is engraved on the front and sides.
