Description On the basis of the monogram and its military subject matter this drawing has been attributed to Wilhelm Camphausen, a popular academic painter of military and genre scenes, who was also a caricaturist and illustrator. He was a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy and a member of the academies in Berlin and Vienna.
Provenance William T. Walters, Baltimore [date and mode of acquisition unknown]; Henry Walters, Baltimore, 1894, by inheritance; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
