Soldier and Officer Reading
On the basis of the monogram and its military subject matter this drawing has been attributed to Wilhelm Camphausen, a popular academic painter of military and genre scenes, who was also a caricaturist and illustrator. He was a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy and a member of the academies in Berlin and Vienna.
