Palanquin Hook
(Southeast Asia )
The heads below the bud at the top of this hook belong to the mythical half-human Garuda bird. The hook at bottom terminates in the head of the naga serpent, Garuda’s enemy. The hook probably supported a bronze ring from which hung one side of a hammock.
