Fans of the Twelve Months
(Japan and Korea )
In the Rimpa school of Japanese painting, a common subject was decoratively arranged fans. Hoshuku added individual twists to a formula perfected by Hoitsu (1761-1828), an artist four generations behind him in a lineage of master and pupil.
