Medicine and Massage Manuscript
The modern form of Thai script present in this manuscript indicates it is from the 20th century. The colophon states that the text was written by Phrakhru Samuhawet, a monk of Wat Suhat in Bangkok. The illustrations demonstrate points on the human body used in determining illnesses and the treatment of illnesses. The images include three monstrous figures in a landscape (fol. 1), frontal diagrams of the human body (fols. 3-15), views alternating with rear views (fols. 18-30 on odd numbered folios), and an incomplete drawing of one half of a headdress that was perhaps added at a later date.
