Seated Buddha

Description Provenance Credit
Description The Buddha is depicted as if seated on a throne, performing a gesture of teaching with his right hand. No one knows what his left hand is doing; the Buddha ought to be holding an end of his robe, but here the end has become separated from the robe itself.
Provenance Yoshie Shinomoto, Monkton, MD [date and mode of acquisition unknown]; Walters Art Museum, 1992, by gift.
Credit Gift of Mr. Yoshie Shinomoto, 1993
