From a vantage point to the east, one looks across the Bacino di San Marco toward Santa Maria della Salute on the left and to the Ducal Palace and Campanile on the right. Moored fishing boats occupy the foreground.
Félix Ziem was active in the Paris Salon in 1849. He was influenced by the Barbizon school and acquired their naturalistic approach.
