Mourning Virgin

Description Conservation Provenance Credit
Description The Virgin combines the iconography of the mourning figure beneath the cross with the Mother of Sorrows, whose breast has been pierced with a sword. In the 17th-century, this image rarely appears in the standing posture but is usually seated. There is minor damage to the nose, and there are breaks of the lower folds on each side of the figure.
