Description This pastel drawing is based on a pastel by the British artist John Russell, which shows a young child and three dogs. The child has a puppy in each hand, and holds the mother away with his foot. The child had been identified as one of Russell's grandchildren whose mother was Russell's daughter, Jane de Courcy Jowett. Russell, who was elected a member of the Royal Academy, is best known for his pastel portraits and fancy pictures.
