Description Before leaving to defend Emperor Go-Daigo at the battle of Minatogawa, Kusuoki Masashige (1294-1336) arranged a farewell meeting with his young son Masatsura. They acknowledged their final parting by sharing water from a lacquer sake cup in a solemn ceremony known as "mizusakazuki." Masashige then presented his son with a scroll containing his last instructions, should he not return.
