Description Lanceray, a Russian sculptor who specialized in equestrian themes, spent much of his career in France. His subjects, however, are invariably set in Russia or North Africa. This bronze appears in the catalogues of Susse Frères, a Paris retailer that sold bronzes cast by several foundries. Lanceray's works were introduced to America at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876.
