Provenance
Provenance (from the French provenir, 'to come from/forth') is the chronology of the ownership, custody, or location of a historical object.
Written in 1466 at the monastery of Corpus Christi in Ferrara by the nun. B. illuminata Bembo, a companion of the author's, copying from the author's own manuscript found in her cell at the time of her death in 1463 by R. Father Brother Batista da Modena, according to scribal colophon on fol. 62. Obtained by Henry Walters from L.S. Olschki in Venice, bookplate "Bibliopolae Veneti no. 17917, Scrin. B15, inv. no. R 1516, and early cat no. 25 or B. 26 n. 203; by bequest to Walters Art Museum, 1931.
