A peasant is shown kneeling on the ground, wearing a straw skirt. His head extends over the top edge of the fuchi. He may be bowing before the samurai depicted in the matching kashira, Walters 51.1037.

[Signature] 乙柳軒 五代目味墨; [Transliteration] Otsuryûken godaime Miboku; [Translation] Otsuryûken the fifth, Miboku
