This set of 12 album paintings was created in the blue-green landscape style that the Ming dynasty artist Qiu Ying (1494–1552) used for a famous handscroll of the imperial hunts held by the Han dynasty Emperor Wu (reigned 141-87 B.C.E.) outside his capital of Chang'an (modern Xi'an, Shaanxi Province), in Shanling Park, the large imperial wilderness preserve used for imperial hunts and excursions.
