Description This snuffbox is created with a single type of stone, jasper, that is enlivened with gold cagework and set with jewels. At the center of the lid, diamonds have been arranged in the shape of a cornucopia, or horn of plenty, a symbol of abundance.
Provenance Present in Linz, Austria, 1891-1901 ; acquired by Henry Walters, Baltimore; by bequest to Walters Art Museum, 1931.  Entry stamp for foreign gold
