Phra Malai Manuscript
19th century
Pigment on paper, black lacquer cover
Accordion pleated MS;paper;94 ff.
Due to extensive rubbing, this average quality Phra Malai manuscript is in poor condition. However the illustrations that are included here are still those common to a Phra Malai manuscript: a hell scene, a corpse, picking lotuses to give Phra Malai to carry to heaven, the Culamani stupa in heaven, and hovering angels. The images are arranged in pairs, with one on each end of the illustrated folios.
