Description Lord Enya Hangan (left) calls upon the villain Moronao (right). Hangan is one of two provincial rulers who have been asked to follow Moronao's orders. (Through flattery, Moronao has just diffused the anger of the other ruler, Wakanosonosuke.) Moronao has had designs on Hangan's wife. Hangan hands him her message, a poem that Moronao realizes is a rejection of his advances. "A chaste wife, yes, chaste indeed," Moronao taunts Hangan. "You're a lucky man. It's no wonder you were late in arriving at the palace."
