silver, silver gilding, translucent champlevé enamel over foil
(18th and 19th Centuries )

On the front of the case, the Jack of Diamonds, holding a battle ax, is represented in green and red translucent champlevé enamel over silver foil. The Jack's facial features and hand, however, are engraved. The case's sides are striated, and its back is covered with a trellis pattern in blue champlevé enamel against a silver ground.

[Mark] On inside lid and on inside bottom in Cyrillic: Imperial warrant over POvchinnikov, AS over 1874; [Mark] French import marks on edge of rim: ET ET, unidentified mark
