Embroidered Textile
This textile is called a "suzani," after the Persian word for needle ("suzan"). Made in both commercial and domestic settings in different shapes and sizes, "suzanis" were used as mirror covers, tablecloths, towels, and napkins. Their bright, bold floral patterns were repeated in different materials on other household items, such as Ottoman Turkish ceramic plates and bowls.
