Portrait of A Young Man
1593 (Late Renaissance)
Oil on panel
The severity of demeanor exhibited by this twenty-five-year-old man as well as the style of his facial hair suggest that the sitter is Spanish. The painting surface has suffered sufficiently, especially in the area of the hair, that the style is difficult to assess.
