Head of a Smiling Person with a Triangular Face

South Arabian (Sculptor)
2nd-1st century BCE
calcite-alabaster
(South Arabia)

Although the gender of the subject is uncertain, the large eyes and features suggest youth. The bulbous eyes, which may have once been painted, and the smile suggest that the work is likely of Sabaean origin or from the Jawf region.
