Head of a Man with an Elongated Face and Serious Expression

South Arabian (Sculptor)
1st century BCE-1st century CE
calcite-alabaster
(South Arabia)

The large, protruding, bulbous eyes of the head are almost round and are set off from the face by incised lines. The pupils and other details originally would have been painted. The small mouth is represented by a simple carved line, without lips. The hair is a uniform mass, set off from the forehead.
