Miniature Roof
The object was made in Si Satchanalai, a major center of ceramic production in 14th- to 16th-century Thailand. The center excelled at making architectural ceramics like tiles for eaves (the part of the roof that attaches to and juts out of the building) and finials (decorative end pieces) like this one. Numerous tiles and finials would be used on one roof. All are thick ceramic like this miniature roof made to adorn the upper parts of the full-scale temple buildings.
